Wills

Wills are the basic estate planning device. They are used by billionaires, trillionaire's, millionaires and thousandaires.

Drafted well, a will plans most estates, particularly for the middle class or even some millionaires. For example, a will is useful to a couple with young children because, for a reasonable fee, it protects the children if their parents should die.

Senior citizens find wills useful to dispose of their property when they pass away. They also use wills to prevent fights amongst the children about inheritances. Wills can also ensure that heirlooms and things of sentimental value are distributed fairly or to the right people. (They can also be used to give someone a keepsake.)

Wills are not easy to draft. A wrong word can change the legal effect of the will. An improper signature can invalidate the entire will.
